When I first started, I was living in downtown Chicago and took the blue line every day. It worked pretty well. This was back when you could by discounted subway tokens at Jewel. After about six months, I moved back in with my parents in Long Grove to save some money. I tried using public transit out to their place exactly once. The trip home was 2 1/2 hours and went like this: cta->metra->pace->mile walk in the rain. I drove from then on.

Bill.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17299457417473706208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3705573945951516016.post-40916237589014791282009-03-09T11:31:00.000-05:002009-03-09T11:31:00.000-05:00I really admire your effort to use public transpor...I really admire your effort to use public transport. I tried it while working at Cisco, and the 12 mile commute would have taken close to 90 minutes had I taken the bus (compared to 25 minutes minutes by car). Now I know that public transport will always be slower than driving, but 300% slower is quite unacceptable.

What are your options for something like driving maybe to Oak Park and just taking the Green Line from there?

Cameron.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
